having earned a degree in Literatures and Cultures in English from Brown University. I discovered my passion for technology by taking an English course called “Electronic Media.” My capstone project for that class was to build a website from scratch using self-taught HTML, CSS, and Adobe Dreamweaver to tell a creative non-fiction story.
The following semester, I accepted a work-study position with Brown's Scholarly Technology Group and built a website to house 30 years of a sociology professor's research on the Catskills Mountains.
In 2011, I accepted a web developer position with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Since then, I've worked for small, medium, and large companies primarily as a web developer and consultant.
Each year, the society honors 30 individuals under the age of 30 across the United States that have achieved extraordinary success.
In honor of Women's History Month (March 2019), I was selected to speak on a panel ("Wisdom from Black Women in Tech") discussing my experience as a Black woman working in technology.
